We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join an NHS catering team. You will play a vital role in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals that support the health and wellbeing of patients, staff, and visitors. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled cook who is passionate about food quality, hygiene, and making a positive impact within a healthcare environment. Initially this will be for 3 months. You will be working 6am-2pm or 10am-6pm which will include weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present meals in line with NHS standards and dietary requirements
  • Ensure meals are produced to a high standard of quality, nutrition, and presentation
  • Follow all food hygiene, allergen, and safety regulations
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment
  • Support stock control, food storage, and ordering processes
  • Work collaboratively with the wider catering and healthcare team

Requirements

  • City & Guilds Qualification in Cookery (or equivalent) – Essential
  • Previous experience working in a professional kitchen (healthcare or large-scale catering desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene preferred)
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and teamworking skills
  • Flexibility to work both shift patterns
