gap personnel (4WP Solutions) part of the gap personnel group are currently recruiting for Warehouse Operatives on a weekly basis for Night shift, located at TJ Morris’ all-purpose distribution centre located at Amesbury, Wiltshire, SP4.
You will be joining a privately owned, family run discount retailer selling top brands at the lowest possible price on the UK high street. The distribution centre is one of the companies most advanced and highly automated DC’s and covers a huge 1,000,000 sq.ft.
The Warehouse Operative is fundamental to the day-to-day operations across the TJ Morris network with all items picked for the day, supplied direct to stores the following day. The site operates 24/7 with all warehouse operatives expected to work 5 days out of 7 which will include rotational weekends.
As a Warehouse Operative you will be provided with all of the latest training to ensure that you can operate to your full potential, and to use the companies automated Caddy Pick System. You have regular training sessions and progress reviews for continuous improvement within your job role.
Main responsibilities of a Warehouse Operative include:
- Safe picking and loading of items into cages ready for store delivery
- Ensuring all items are picked as per order and loaded correctly
- Maintaining clean working practices
- Work towards achievement of pick rate and other targets
The role also includes a 3-day induction which will cover off the below:
- Day 1: Induction, Orientation, Warehouse Tour, Manual Handling, Caddy Overview, Cage Stacking, Caddy Demo.
- Day 2: Practical Training on Caddy.
- Day 3: Caddy Assessment, Caddy Coaching.
This role will involve covering large distances by foot (up to 15,000 steps per day), although the automated picking system will provide you with the shortest / quickest route to each item that is required to be picked.
The site boasts superb onsite facilities such as: Subsidised hot food canteen, multiple vending machines, break-out areas, transport-to-site options (Southampton and Swindon pick-up points), temp to perm opportunities on all positions, free carpark, additional local food amenities and additional career progression opportunities.
Successful candidates will be a pro-active team worker, liaising and co-operating with all members of staff. Operate within the confines of company policy and procedure requirements, including integrity and confidentiality in respect of the business. Abide by health and safety legislation in respect of yourself and others.
