Temporary School Catering Assistant – College Cover (8–12 Weeks)
Gap Personnel are currently recruiting for a Temporary Catering & Food Preparation Assistant to provide cover at a local college for approximately 8–12 weeks, starting in September. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with catering, food preparation, kitchen assistant, or cleaning experience who enjoys working in a busy educational environment.
Pay & Hours
- £13.69 per hour
- 37 hours per week
- Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16:00
- Friday: 08:00 – 15:30
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Key Responsibilities
- Ordering and collecting supermarket food deliveries for the college
- Receiving, unpacking, and storing stock safely
- Preparing and portioning ingredients and supplies for student practical lessons
- Maintaining a clean and organised working environment
- Cleaning and sanitising work areas between lessons
- Carrying out thorough end-of-day deep cleaning duties
- Following food safety and hygiene procedures at all times
About You
- We're looking for someone who is reliable, organised, and able to work independently
- Has good attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Is comfortable undertaking both food preparation and cleaning duties
- Has previous experience in a catering, kitchen, hospitality, or food-related environment (preferred but not essential)
- Can work effectively within a busy educational setting
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS check required (can be arranged)
- Food Hygiene Certificate desirable, although training can be provided if needed
