Gap Personnel Telford are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Sewing Machinist to join our client's team based in Ironbridge, Telford. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has industrial sewing experience to gain a long-term career.
Location: Ironbridge area
Pay Rate: £12.75 per hour
Hours: Up to 34 paid hours per week – compressed 4‑day week between Monday to Friday
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sewing together all or part of soft toys or garments
- Operating industrial lock stitch sewing machines and occasional use of overlockers
- Following detailed sewing instructions and specifications
- Guiding materials through the machine and correcting issues as they arise
- Adjusting machine settings, changing threads, and ensuring the correct finish
- Checking finished items against patterns and bills of materials
- Assisting with sample production for new product lines
- Keeping machines and work areas clean and in good working order
- Communicating effectively with colleagues across production
- Supporting other areas of production when required
- Working to company standards for Health & Safety and Quality
- Aiming to maximise efficiency and minimise waste
Skills and Experience Required:
- Proven industrial sewing machine experience essential
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong knowledge of fabrics and sewing techniques
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high quality standards
- A reliable team player with good communication skills
