We're recruiting on behalf of a leading employee-owned training provider for a Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support) to join their team in Newport. You’ll be supporting learners enrolled on the Jobs Growth Wales+ (JGW+) Programme, a Welsh Government initiative designed to help young people gain the skills, qualifications, and work experience needed to progress into employment or further learning.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with tutors and learners, providing one-to-one and small group support to ensure every learner has the opportunity to succeed. You’ll help create a positive, inclusive learning environment where learners feel motivated, supported, and encouraged to reach their goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support to learners, helping them complete coursework and assignments.
  • Work alongside tutors to deliver engaging and effective learning sessions.
  • Support learners who require additional guidance to remain focused and engaged.
  • Encourage learner confidence, participation, and independence.
  • Assist with the delivery of learning activities in both group and individual settings.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with learners, providing encouragement throughout their learning journey.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Experience working with young people, or a genuine passion for supporting them to achieve their potential.
  • A caring, patient, and supportive approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to motivate and engage learners from a range of backgrounds.
  • An enthusiastic and positive attitude towards learning and development.
  • Willingness to undergo a DBS check (funded by the employer) and register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
