We're recruiting for a Technical Application Engineer to join a well-established, internationally recognised engineering business based in Ivybridge. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a collaborative team supporting customers across the UK and international markets while working with cutting-edge motor control and energy-saving technologies.
What you'll be doing
As a Technical Application Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting customers and the sales team by providing expert technical advice and delivering outstanding service. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing pre and post-sales technical support
- Reviewing customer applications and recommending suitable technical solutions
- Assisting with product selection, commissioning guidance and troubleshooting
- Delivering technical training to customers and colleagues
- Supporting business development by attending customer meetings and presentations
- Preparing technical proposals and quotations
- Working closely with engineering, sales and marketing teams
- Contributing to product development through customer and market feedback
- Representing the business at exhibitions and industry events
- Travelling within the UK and internationally (primarily EMEA) when required
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent communication and customer service skills.
Essential:
- HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience within industrial automation, motor control, drives or electrical engineering
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and industrial applications
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems
- Willingness to travel internationally
Desirable:
- Experience with soft starters, VFDs, motor protection or low-voltage motor control equipment
- Knowledge of IEC, NEMA or other industrial standards
- Experience supporting international customers
- Experience delivering technical training
- Understanding of OEM, distributor and end-user sales channels
