Gap Personnel are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of our NHS partner for an experienced and proactive Head of Security. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled security professional to play a key leadership role within a major NHS Trust, ensuring the safety, security, and wellbeing of patients, staff, and visitors. The Head of Security will oversee all security operations across the site, lead the security team, and ensure compliance with NHS security standards and legal requirements. This role is ideal for a strategic leader with strong operational knowledge and a passion for public-sector service. Initially for a 6 month period with the potential to be extended.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Trust’s Security Department, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
- Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and risk‑reduction strategies.
- Conduct security risk assessments and ensure compliance with NHS and industry guidelines.
- Oversee incident investigations, prepare reports, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders including law enforcement.
- Manage staffing levels, training, rotas, and performance across the security team.
- Ensure effective use of CCTV, access control systems, and other security technologies.
- Act as the Trust's subject matter expert for security and contribute to emergency planning.
- Provide leadership during major incidents and support business continuity planning.
Requirements
- Proven experience in security leadership, ideally within the NHS, healthcare, or large complex environments.
- Strong knowledge of NHS security standards (e.g., Security Management Standards, Violence Prevention & Reduction).
- Experience conducting investigations and writing formal reports.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
- Relevant security qualifications (e.g., SIA, security management, risk management) essential.
