Our client based in the Ellesmere Port area is currently looking to recruit a Production Manager on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Group Operations Director, the Production Manager will be required to drive continuous improvement across the site delivering productivity in a safe and effective manner while maintaining product quality.
This position requires a management style with an emphasis on communication and leadership, giving direction to the team to deliver the required performance.
Performance Objectives- Maintaining production flow that meets overall output requirements, with flexibility to react to short term changes in priorities.
- Guide and mentor the production team leaders, to maintain a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork in all aspects of production & design engineering (5s & lean manufacturing).
- Provide support and guidance with both internal and external audits.
- Set high standards of housekeeping, implementing structured and regular reviews of the production workplace, to ensure that standards are achieved and improved.
- Ensure that Health and Safety is being upheld across the whole site.
- Develop and maintain good relations with employees through effective and timely communication, keeping staff regularly informed of changes and developments and provide positive and motivated leadership.
- Motivate staff to monitor, appraise and develop them through training as required.
- Ensure goods-in & despatch areas maintain procedures ensuring accurate stock at all times.
- Contribute to meetings, providing key reports to relevant Managers on a regular and ad hoc basis.
- Maintain the company KPI’s to ensure communication flows up/down from the shopfloor to the leadership team.
- Partner with the logistics team to maintain and control inventory on the shop floor, stock taking and day to day material flow.
- Drive a step change in the culture and accountability within Production for Health & Safety, Quality, Cost, OTIF, housekeeping and efficiency.
- Work closely with the Management team across both sites.
We are looking for a Production Manager who has a hands-on approach to achieving the company goals, who has excellent organisational skills and experience working within a fast-paced environment. You will have a flexible approach to leadership with strong analytical, project management & change management skills able to determine problems within production and take appropriate action. The ability to cope under pressure, make sound decisions quickly with good time management skills to minimise downtime are attributes we are looking for. Finally, the ability to build good working relationships with senior stakeholders, open communication and problem solving are key to this role.
Ideally, we are looking for a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a leadership role, preferably within the automotive industry; however, manufacturing & other experience will be considered. You will be familiar with ERP/MRP systems and their manipulation, be able to prove that you can consistently achieve KPI measures and have worked within a quality focused environment with knowledge of ISO9000 standards and/or IATF. Experience of using production software and Microsoft packages is essential.
