We are looking for a proactive and highly organised
Cleaning Services Supervisor to work within the cleaning Department of a local authority.
This is a key role ensuring cleaning, void clearance, fly‑tipping response, window cleaning and related operational services are delivered to the highest standards.
You will supervise frontline teams, manage stock and equipment, carry out audits and inspections, oversee fleet compliance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of services provided to our residents and customers.
This is a varied, hands‑on role where your leadership, attention to detail and commitment to quality will make a real impact across our estates.
Key Responsibilities
- Service & Team Supervision
- Supervise the cleaning team to ensure efficient, high‑quality service in line with policies, specifications and performance targets.
- Oversee operations including void clearances, window cleaning, fly‑tipping response and cleaning across the portfolio.
- Carry out monthly audits, site inspections and identify performance issues early.
- Support recruitment, selection, training and induction of staff.
- Deliver toolbox talks, COSHH certification and ensure staff have appropriate Health & Safety training.
- Complete staff 1:1s, PDRs and maintain accurate compliance documentation.
- Provide operational cover for supervisors and the lead officer where required.
- Resident & Customer Engagement
- Act as an approachable main point of contact for residents and customers.
- Lead on customer queries, complaints and service concerns.
- Promote community involvement and ensure actions and communications are followed up.
- Operational Management
- Manage stock control, ordering and issue of cleaning stores and equipment.
- Ensure vehicle fleet compliance, daily checks and environmental considerations are adhered to.
- Complete and maintain waste transfer notes and ensure all legal obligations are met.
- Conduct risk assessments and annual reviews.
- Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation and Council policies.
- Cross‑Council Collaboration
- Work closely with senior management, other departments and teams to ensure services are joined‑up and aligned with the Council’s strategic priorities.
- Provide professional support and advice to the Director, Assistant Director, Head of Service and Manager.
- Flexibility
- Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including audits and inspections across the borough outside standard hours.
- Support the service during election periods with administrative tasks (paid in addition to contractual hours).

- Understands Health & Safety, COSHH, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

- Works professionally with residents, customers, and colleagues at all levels.
- Has strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Holds a full UK driving licence.
