Pay Rate: Β£12.71 - Β£23.26 per hour (enhanced rates for evenings, weekends and bank holidays where applicable)

About the Role

We are seeking reliable and compassionate Porters to join a friendly team within a small Community Hospital. This is a vital frontline role supporting patient care and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of hospital services.

Working as part of the Facilities Team, you will provide a professional portering service across the hospital, assisting with the safe movement of patients, equipment, supplies and clinical items.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients between wards, departments and treatment areas.
  • Move medical equipment, furniture and supplies throughout the hospital.
  • Deliver and collect clinical and non-clinical items as required.
  • Assist hospital staff with setting up rooms and equipment.
  • Respond promptly to porter requests across the site.
  • Support the transfer of specimens, medical records and pharmacy items.
  • Ensure wheelchairs, trolleys and other equipment are clean and available for use.
  • Follow all health and safety, infection prevention and manual handling procedures.
  • Provide a courteous and professional service to patients, visitors and staff.
  • Support emergency and ad hoc requests as directed by supervisors.

What We're Looking For

  • Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling duties.
  • Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
  • Previous porter, healthcare, facilities or customer-facing experience is desirable but not essential.

Working Pattern

  • 15 to 37.5 hours per week available.
  • Rotational shifts.
  • Some weekend working required.
  • Additional hours may be available to cover annual leave and service demands.
