Our client, a leading logistics and distribution business, is seeking a highly organised and proactive Logistics Coordinator to join their busy operation. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport, warehouse or logistics professional looking to take the next step in their career within a fast-paced environment. This role combines elements of both a Transport Planner and Warehouse Supervisor, offering variety, responsibility and genuine development opportunities.
Working on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern covering both days and nights, you'll play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, safety and compliance across Transport and Despatch functions.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Depot Front Line Manager, you will support the day-to-day management of transport and warehouse operations, ensuring goods are received, handled and distributed safely, efficiently and in line with customer expectations. You will be responsible for monitoring operational performance, supporting compliance activities, driving safety standards and ensuring service levels are consistently achieved.
- Supporting the safe and efficient movement of goods throughout the operation.
- Coordinating transport and despatch activities to meet customer service requirements.
- Promoting and maintaining a strong "Safety First" culture across the site.
- Supporting hazard reporting and ensuring operational teams work safely and in line with procedures.
- Assisting with Working Time Directive administration, driver infringements and legal compliance reporting.
- Monitoring service, stock and operational issues and ensuring timely resolution.
- Utilising Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to maximise productivity, order fulfilment and operational efficiency.
- Building strong working relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- Providing supervisory support and management cover when required.
- Supporting the achievement of departmental KPIs relating to service, cost, efficiency and compliance.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will have previous experience within transport, logistics, warehousing or distribution and be comfortable working in a fast-moving operational environment. You will also possess:
- Strong IT and systems skills, ideally including WMS or transport management systems.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Previous supervisory, team leader or planning experience.
- A good understanding of transport compliance and operational procedures.
- The ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A flexible and hands-on approach to work.
- A strong customer-focused mindset and commitment to delivering high service standards.
