We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected aerospace manufacturing company based in Southend on Sea, Essex. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a skilled engineering team working on precision, small-batch components.
The Role
As a CNC Setter Operator (Milling), you will be responsible for programming, setting, and manufacturing high-precision components to tight tolerances from engineering drawings. You will work within a busy Machine Shop environment, reporting directly to a supervisor.
Working Hours
39 Hours per Week
- Mon – Thurs: 8:00am – 5:00pm (30 mins lunch)
- Friday: 8:00am – 1:00pm (no lunch break)
Great work-life balance with an early finish every Friday!
Key Responsibilities
- Setting and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture small-batch components from engineering drawings
- Manufacturing all components within agreed timescales and to the highest quality standards
- Using a wide range of measuring and inspection equipment to verify components post-manufacture
- Mentoring new staff members when required
- Maintaining accurate manufacturing paperwork and documentation
- Ensuring products are correctly protected and labelled for transit
- Upholding high standards of housekeeping and Health & Safety at all times
- Supporting the wider team with additional tasks as required
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Extensive CNC milling experience, including setting up CNC milling machines (minimum 3-axis)
- Ability to read engineering drawings in both metric and imperial measurements
- Proficient in the use of inspection and measurement tools
- Ability to safely deburr metallic components
- Computer literate, methodical, and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above, or equivalent)
Desirable:
- Experience in Aerospace or Automotive manufacturing
- Mazak CNC Machining Centre experience
- Ability to edit CNC programs and manually compensate tooling diameters/lengths
- Apprenticeship served
- Knowledge of Product Preservation
