Gap Personnel, operating as an employment business, are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Logistics Coordinator for a company based in the Bootle area. This is a permanent position.
Our terminal is a purpose-built facility for the import of bulk minerals and chemicals, storage, and final distribution to the end user clients. The terminal specialises in dry bulk chemicals and minerals to service UK clients in the Glass, Detergents, Chemicals, Minerals, and the Animal Feed industries. It became fully operational in 2018, primarily serving our sister company and from 2019 onwards has been taking on additional clients all with their own needs and wants.
Reports to: Logistics Manager / Sales Manager
Working Location: Liverpool
Salary Band: Circa £30,000 - £35,000 per annum depending on experience
5-10% discretionary bonus per annum based on KPIs
Pension scheme with up to 10% contribution matching
25 days holiday per annum plus public holidays
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Purpose of Role: We are looking for an experienced Logistics Coordinator to help with the growing customer base. The role involves, but is not limited to, liaising with customers, forwarders, clearing agents, and the team on site to ensure customer requirements can be met. Working on solutions when problems arise and ensuring customer expectations are managed effectively. Processing orders and deliveries in and out of the site and ensuring that the demand is manageable by the site. Working as a small team, the Logistics Coordinator needs to liaise with the sales manager and work alongside the current team to ensure common targets and goals are met. There is also a general requirement to cover colleagues in other specialist areas to help deal with seasonal fluctuations and holiday cover.
Key responsibilities of this role:
- Ensuring that orders are processed and entered accurately onto appropriate systems.
- Ensuring that sufficient inbound stock is made available and allocated to meet outgoing orders.
- Dealing with customs paperwork and reporting when necessary.
- Negotiation and procurement of goods and services.
- Organising appropriate shipping/transport to transport goods to the customer's location.
- Raising invoices in the appropriate format, passing all necessary paperwork to the Finance team in an orderly manner.
- Keeping all paper and electronic records and filing up to date in real time at all times.
- Completing reports as required and liaising with the sales and Finance team.
- Liaising with customers, ports, storage, and transportation partners to ensure smooth operations at all times.
- Ensuring QA compliance in line with Company procedures and regulated standards.
- Using SAP and other ERP systems accurately and competently.
- Actively contributing to team meetings in terms of reporting and seeking ways to make improvements to working methods and efficiencies.
- Undertake any other duties and tasks which are reasonably required by management.
Person Specification:
- 3 years minimum previous experience of working in commercial logistics or operations administration environments is essential.
- Strong commercial understanding and awareness.
- Must be confident in dealing with customer and supplier queries over the telephone.
- Must be able to work under pressure to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Must have good administration and organisational skills to manage workload and paperwork in an effective and controlled manner at all times.
- Clear and accurate spoken English skills.
- A high level of numeracy.
- High level of computer literacy, and solid experience of using ERP systems (preferably SAP), MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be a team player, with a can-do attitude who is happy to assist colleagues and pitch in to get the job done.
