Inventory Accountant
Location: Plymouth, Devon
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 5:30pm

We are recruiting for an Inventory Accountant to join the Head Office team of a well-established and growing organisation based in Plymouth.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, identifying trends and working collaboratively across finance, purchasing and supply chain teams to support commercial decision-making.
The Role
As Inventory Accountant, you will be responsible for analysing inventory performance and providing valuable insights to help improve purchasing efficiency and profitability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analysing inventory levels, stock age, trends and KPIs
- Identifying risks, opportunities and discrepancies within inventory data
- Investigating stock discrepancies and providing recommendations
- Supporting forecasting and trend analysis
- Ensuring accurate inventory valuations and data integrity
- Supporting physical stock takes across multiple locations
- Working closely with purchasing, supply chain and other key stakeholders
- Presenting financial insights clearly to non-finance teams
- Supporting strong financial controls and continuous improvement
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Advanced Excel and Power BI skills
- Experience working with large and complex data sets
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience using accounting software and ERP systems
- A commercial and proactive approach
- A recognised part-accounting qualification or equivalent experience
- The ability to turn financial data into clear, practical recommendations
