About the Role
We are currently partnering with our client within the construction sector to recruit a Material Planner to join their Supply Chain Management team based in Welwyn Garden City. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised and proactive individual to support the smooth flow of materials while maintaining strong service levels across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain inventory at optimal levels to meet service requirements while controlling overall stock value.
- Reduce excess and obsolete stock through effective planning and monitoring.
- Work closely with internal teams to understand future demand and align supply accordingly.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Raise purchase orders with both internal group companies and external suppliers.
- Expedite urgent requirements and support internal teams with priority orders.
- Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities and meetings.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain accurate supplier records within SAP.
- Ensure system data is accurate and up to date, including pricing, lead times, and product details.
- Provide lead time and stock availability information to internal teams.
- Produce reports and analysis on stock levels, order status, and key metrics.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to stock, pricing, or system data.
- Support new product setup, including stocking policies and pricing structures.
- Identify and suggest continuous improvements to processes and systems.
- Represent the business professionally and uphold company values at all times.
