gap personnel Gloucester is currently recruiting for Assembly Operatives for an ongoing temp-to-perm role at a reputable manufacturing company located in Swindon, Wiltshire (SN2).

As an Assembly Operative, you will play a crucial role in assembling high-quality wiring harnesses efficiently and in accordance with customer specifications. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to work within set timelines to meet production demands. The pay rate will be determined based on your experience and knowledge of the manufacturing, transport, and aerospace environments. Those with proven experience may qualify for a higher pay rate.

Key responsibilities:

  • Read and comprehend work instructions, ensuring that all drawings are understood correctly.
  • Collect all necessary materials, tools, and equipment required for product assembly.
  • Take precision measurements to guarantee that components fit seamlessly.
  • Select or modify components based on the specified measurements and requirements.
  • Manufacture and inspect output consistently to uphold top-notch quality standards.
  • Maintain all equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Keep accurate records of production quantities and the time taken to complete assemblies.
  • Report any issues, malfunctions, or defective parts immediately.
  • Follow all company standards, procedures, and work instructions pertinent to your role.
  • Be prepared to address any other requests from management.

Previous experience:

  • Technical knowledge and ability to read blueprints, drawings etc. (Essential)
  • Good understanding of quality control principles (Essential)
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) (Essential)
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination. (Essential)
  • Proven experience as assembler. (Preferred)
  • Ability in using tools (e.g. crimping) and machines (e.g. torque tool) (Preferred)
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620, Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies (Preferred)

Working Hours: Mon – Thurs 07:15 – 16:15. Fri 07:15 – 12:00.

Hourly Pay Rates: Competitive pay rate which is based upon experience – overtime paid extra – please ask Consultant for the rate range.
