About the Role

gap personnel are recruiting for an Engineering Technician to join a leading defence and marine engineering organisation in Devonport, Plymouth. This is a hands-on role supporting the maintenance and regeneration of electrical and mechanical systems onboard Royal Navy vessels undergoing major deep maintenance periods. You'll be part of a skilled engineering team ensuring equipment and systems are restored to full operational condition, contributing directly to the success of critical naval operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical systems onboard ships.
  • Conduct inspections and report on equipment condition to ensure operational readiness.
  • Diagnose and rectify system defects efficiently and accurately.
  • Support general marine maintenance tasks as required.
  • Maintain accurate records within the maintenance management system.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Qualified Electrical or Mechanical Technician with strong engineering standards.
  • Physically capable of working onboard vessels and within dockyard environments.
  • Confident IT skills, including experience updating maintenance systems and defect logs.
  • Flexible and adaptable with a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

ONC, Level 3 NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
