A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Plant Fitter to join a well-established engineering operation working with large mechanical assemblies. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, fault-finding, and working on machinery that genuinely tests your skillset.
The Role
- You'll be responsible for the maintenance, overhaul and repair of a range of heavy mechanical equipment.
- Daily tasks include:
- Stripping, inspecting and rebuilding mechanical components
- Working with gearboxes, drivetrains and large assemblies
- Using overhead cranes, jibs and lifting equipment safely
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and completing repairs to a high standard
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering documentation
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with safety procedures and quality standards
What We're Looking For
- Strong mechanical fitting background (plant, rail, HGV, industrial, marine or similar)
- Experience working with heavy components and lifting equipment
- Confident with fault-finding and mechanical diagnostics
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good understanding of health & safety in an engineering environment
- Reliable, proactive and keen to learn new skills
