Key Duties:

  • Lead and support a team of residential care staff, ensuring safe and consistent care practices at all times.
  • Assist the Registered Manager with daily operations and overall care delivery.
  • Oversee the implementation of care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
  • Coordinate and delegate tasks effectively during shifts.
  • Ensure high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and domestic routines in the home.
  • Participate in and encourage team engagement in recreational activities with young people (e.g. swimming, walking, games).
  • Attend and contribute to meetings, reviews, and staff supervision.
  • Administer medication and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Undertake sleep-in duties as required.
  • Lead by example, promoting professionalism and positive role modelling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong, appropriate relationships with young people.
  • Foster ongoing communication and cooperation with families and external professionals (e.g. social workers, therapists).
  • Take a proactive role in policy development, service improvement, and team performance.
  • Support key workers and take on key working responsibilities where appropriate.
  • Respond calmly and safely to challenging behaviour, including physical interventions when necessary.
  • Ensure high standards of documentation, care planning, and safeguarding at all times.
  • Support team development and training through mentoring and supervision.
