About the role
The Role PMO Analyst
GAP Group is one of the UK's largest equipment hire providers, and we're investing significantly in our Digital & Technology function to support an ambitious growth agenda. We're building a lean, pragmatic PMO to run the delivery ‘engine room', and we're looking for a PMO Analyst to help establish and operate it. This is a build role, not a caretaker role — a genuine opportunity to shape how a growing digital function delivers change.
What you'll be doing:
- Build and maintain a single, trusted view of the technology change portfolio — status, risks, milestones, dependencies and spend.
- Run the weekly reporting cadence and produce clear portfolio and board-level roll-ups, automating wherever possible (Power BI, Excel, Jira).
- Operate the intake, triage and prioritisation process so new work is scoped, routed and prioritised transparently.
- Build and run the team's demand and capacity plan, flagging resource conflicts early.
- Support per-project financial and benefits tracking in partnership with Finance.
- Maintain the master RAID log and a right-sized delivery framework, standards and templates.
- Support delivery across waterfall, agile and hybrid methods, and help implement delivery tooling (e.g. Jira/Confluence).
About You
What we're looking for:
- Experience in a PMO, portfolio analyst or delivery-support role within a technology or change environment — ideally having helped build or improve a PMO, not just operate one.
- Hands-on experience producing portfolio reporting for senior audiences.
- Working knowledge of both waterfall and agile delivery, and of hybrid environments where the two coexist.
- Strong analytical and Excel skills; experience with Jira/Confluence and Power BI (or similar) an advantage.
- Experience of project financial tracking and working with Finance teams.
- Highly organised, a clear communicator, and confident in constructively challenging data quality with project managers and senior stakeholders.
About Us
As a PMO Analyst, you'll be joining an industry leader that's growing and genuinely committed to your success. At GAP, we're proud to be the UK's leading equipment hire provider—supporting projects big and small across construction, infrastructure, events, and more. With nearly 200 locations nationwide and a wide range of specialist divisions, we offer exciting opportunities in everything from Plant and Tools to Lifting, Survey, Environmental, and Event Services.
As a family-run business with over 50 years of experience, we believe in doing things the right way. That means:
- More investment in our equipment than anyone else in the industry, so you work with the best tools in the game.
- Remaining fully independent, which lets us make agile, long-term decisions that support your success.
- Offering real career growth, training, and development from day one.
- Support that values you – from generous holidays to Life Assurance and Health & Wellness Support.
Whether you're hands-on or customer-focused, there's a place for you at GAP where your work makes a difference. If you're up for the challenge and want to feel valued at work, then we'd love to hear from you! Ready to get started? Upload your CV and complete our short application—we'll take it from there.
