Gap Construction is extremely proud to be working with a well established, family owned contractor specialising in drylining and refurbishment projects to recruit a Trainee Project Manager. This role is designed as a structured entry point into the industry, offering hands on exposure across multiple departments and a clear grounding in how projects are delivered from start to finish. The successful candidate will be supported on the pathway to becoming a fully qualified PM, supporting experienced team members and building a solid understanding of processes, standards, and day to day operations. As a family run business, they take great pride in their close knit team and long standing relationships with clients and customers across the region.

Person Specification

  • A background in construction, project management, or a related field would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Basic understanding of project environments, particularly within drylining or refurbishment, would be beneficial.
  • Currently studying towards, or recently achieved, a relevant qualification in construction or project management.
  • Strong communication skills with a willingness to listen, learn, and take direction from experienced colleagues.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to developing within a hands on, supportive environment.
  • Good IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and an interest in project based systems.
  • Able to work to deadlines and adapt to the needs of a busy project environment.

Performance Objectives

  • Supporting Project Managers and site teams in the delivery of drylining and refurbishment projects, gaining exposure to the full project life cycle.
  • Assisting in maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards across sites.
  • Contributing to the delivery of high quality projects, learning what drives successful outcomes on site.
  • Developing an understanding of project processes, company procedures, and industry standards through day to day involvement.
  • Assisting with ordering materials, coordinating deliveries, and supporting site logistics alongside the wider team.
