gap technical are proud to be representing a market-leading manufacturing business in their search for an experienced Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to support operations at their site in Blackburn.
The Role
- Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the manufacturing process by responding to breakdowns, carrying out planned maintenance, and driving continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and effectively to equipment breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance activities.
- Fault-find efficiently using machine history, documentation, and diagnostics.
- Take ownership of a nominated production area.
- Identify, correct, and modify recurring machine faults.
- Work closely with production teams to maintain strong working relationships.
- Train operational staff in minor maintenance tasks and assist with major repairs.
- Ensure all machinery is maintained to a high engineering standard.
- Actively contribute to reducing downtime and improving engineering processes.
About You
- Time-served engineering apprenticeship (preferred).
- Electrical bias with strong hands-on experience.
- Proven experience with: 3 Phase Electrical Systems, Motors, Drives, Safety Relays & PLCs.
- Packaging machinery background in FMCG / Packaging / Plastics manufacturing is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to plan and organise workload effectively.
- Flexible approach to shift patterns (days, nights, weekends).
