gap construction are seeking a Senior Estimator to join a leading contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality public-sector refurbishment and new-build projects. This is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of a collaborative and growing team, leading the estimating function and driving the delivery of complex schemes through accurate cost planning, tender management, and commercial oversight.
Performance Objectives
- Prepare comprehensive estimates, cost plans, and tender submissions for public-sector and refurbishment projects.
- Lead 2-stage tendering and design & build tender packages from initial brief to submission.
- Maintain project budgets, take-offs, and cost breakdowns, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.
- Oversee pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, including clarifications and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of all estimating information, ensuring data is current and easily accessible.
- Mentor and support junior/trainee estimators within the team.
- Produce and manage project trackers, ensuring all deadlines and deliverables are met.
- Provide ad-hoc reporting, bid analysis, and strategic input to the commercial team.
- Ensure estimating processes adhere to company procedures and industry-standard protocols.
Person Specification
- Proven experience as a Senior Estimator within construction, ideally including public-sector, refurbishment, and new-build projects.
- Strong understanding of 2-stage and design & build tendering processes.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Confident in leading projects and mentoring junior team members.
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, able to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Professional, reliable, and commercially aware with a track record of successful project delivery.
