An established engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to support a growing portfolio of major infrastructure projects across the water and rail sectors. This is an excellent opportunity to join a technically strong environment offering long-term project work, hybrid flexibility and exposure to complex infrastructure schemes across regulated industries.
The Role
- You will be responsible for producing geotechnical and civil engineering design deliverables, ensuring designs are completed safely, accurately and in line with technical standards and client requirements.
- The role will also involve supporting junior engineers and coordinating design activities across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce geotechnical and civil engineering design calculations and drawings
- Prepare GI specifications, interpretive reports and design reports
- Ensure designs comply with technical, professional and group standards
- Support and direct CAD technicians, graduates and junior engineers
- Attend and present at IDC/KM7 meetings and technical reviews
- Estimate design package hours and support delivery planning
- Ensure design changes are fully implemented and recorded
- Work within formal engineering and quality assurance procedures
About You
- 10+ years' design experience within geotechnical and/or civil engineering
- Strong understanding of geotechnical investigations and reporting
- Experience delivering projects within regulated infrastructure sectors (rail, water, utilities, highways, nuclear or similar)
- Strong technical design capability and problem-solving skills
- Degree or HND qualified
- Working towards Chartership or already professionally registered
Desirable Experience
- Water or railway project experience
- Chartered Engineer status
- Knowledge of GI methods, construction materials and engineering drawing practices
