Senior Engineer – Geotechnical Projects

Location: Glasgow Area

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 + attractive overtime opportunities

We’re representing a leading civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure and geotechnical projects across the UK. Their work spans rail, highways, and major infrastructure, underpinned by a technical services division that provides specialist ground investigation and design support.

They’re now looking to appoint a Senior Engineer to play a key role in their Geotechnical Team, supporting projects through all phases of the lifecycle, from site investigation to reporting and delivery.

This position would suit someone who thrives on technical challenge, enjoys mentoring others, and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality engineering outcomes.

The Role

  • Plan and manage engineering resources across site works, logging, and reporting.
  • Lead site-based teams to deliver ground investigation and ground improvement projects safely and efficiently.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and laboratories to ensure scope, methodology, and reporting meet expectations.
  • Support the Principal Engineer in planning, supervision, and quality management.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and uphold high HSQE standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide CPD support within your area of expertise.
  • Ensure engineering excellence through accurate data collection, quality control, and clear communication.

About You

  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in a Geotechnical discipline, with experience in ground investigation or related civil engineering projects.
  • Confident understanding of GI techniques, BS(EN) standards, and Geo-environmental testing.
  • CSCS (Professional level), IOSH Managing Geotechnical Sites, and SSSTS certified.
  • Strong communicator, effective leader, and collaborative team player.
  • Experienced working within safety-critical environments such as rail or highways.
  • Fully mobile with a UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
