The Company

Our client is a global manufacturer supplying mechanical parts to the Nuclear & Defence industry. Their manufacturing site in West Yorkshire is responsible for design, build, test, assembly, and paint operations supported by an additional service site in the UK.

The business has just finished a record-breaking year, turning over more than 60 million. They have already secured major contracts for 2026, tapping into a niche market. They are therefore able to reward their staff, with multiple promotions through the structure over the last year.

As a result, they are looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer with immediate effect.

The Role

The role of Senior Design Engineer joins a large team of 13. The team works collaboratively with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, and a Chief Engineer to meet the demands of their market. Working on SolidEdge, the team is responsible for bespoke project work. The Senior Design Engineer will:

  • Involved in cradle to grave design, with first point of involvement being during the initial sales process, creating outlines for quotes
  • Working collaboratively with a designated design team for the project, with opportunities to lead on projects and contribute to project meetings
  • Creating CAD layouts and modelling on SolidEdge, as well as 2D drawings
  • Finalise due diligence for the Nuclear & Defence industry, providing design reports and verification

The Candidate

To be successful in your application for this Senior Design Engineer role you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience of mechanical design for valves, pressurised equipment, or parts for the Nuclear industry
  • Either a degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience utilising a CAD system, ideally with some exposure to SolidEdge
  • Ambition to work in a highly demanding industry
