The Company

We are supporting an innovative and developing precision engineering organisation, specialising in the machining of large and complex performance-critical components to the aerospace and defence industry. This business has seen over 50% growth over the last 3 years, targeting 14 million turnover in 2025. They continue to expand their capabilities, with a multi-million-pound investment in a new facility, with aims to increase their direct hours by 15% within the next year.

With advanced capabilities in both machining and high-integrity fabrications, their state-of-the-art facilities enable them to handle projects of various sizes, up to 9mm diameter, with exceptional precision within a highly regulated, low-volume environment.

To strengthen their manufacturing capabilities as they continue to grow, they are now looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join their highly skilled and dedicated team.

The Role

The role of the Manufacturing Engineer will be to define, develop and maintain methods of manufacture for precision-machined components. The successful Manufacturing Engineer will be given responsibility for full projects or specific areas within a project, and work collaboratively alongside fellow Manufacturing Engineers, Production and Quality Engineers to improve the clarity and robustness of the manufacturing processes, as well as reduce any ambiguity between each department.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Develop CNC machining strategies, tooling, and fixturing
  • Produce manufacturing routings, operation sheets, and stage documentation
  • Specify materials, subcontract processes (heat treatment, NDT, coatings), and inspection requirements
  • Support non-conformance investigations and assist with corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100
  • Utilising the ERP system for route cards to standardise processes across manufacturing
  • Creating CNC programmes
  • Creating own jigs & fixtures - from initial definition, creating route cards to transferring programmes to machinery

The Candidate

To be successful in your application for this Manufacturing Engineer role you will need:

  • Experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer within a precision manufacturing/highly regulated environment including Defence, Aerospace, Nuclear or Gas Turbines
  • Well versed in reading engineering drawings
  • CAD/CAM system experience
  • This role would ideally suit someone who has worked up from the shopfloor, ideally a Skilled Machinist with an interest in problem solving and leading changes in manufacturing processes
  • Due to the nature of the business, must pass eligibility criteria to work in the UK and on a highly classified site
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to work under own steam
  • Previous experience of making own jigs/fixtures would be highly advantageous

The Benefits

In return, our client are offering the successful Manufacturing Engineer:

  • 45,000 - 50,000 (potentially flexible for the right candidate)
  • 4% matched company pension
  • 2pm finish Friday
  • DIS x2
  • Company sick pay (after 1 year’s service)
  • Medicash healthcare
  • 25 days holiday + stats
