The Company

The business has a 40 year trading history with over 700 employees internationally working across the energy, power and a wide number of other industrial engineering sectors. The business delivers high value bespoke engineering projects with specially manufactured mechanical systems supported by large scale mechanical structures, frames and enclosures to support and house the systems. The UK office has grown incredibly from a new business several years ago to now employing more than 30 staff as they continue to win exciting new projects and break into new industrial engineering sectors.

The Role

As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the structural integrity of steel structures across multiple products. Working closely with the mechanical design team and international colleagues, you will ensure all structures meet relevant design codes and client specifications. This role has a strong focus on analysis rather than CAD design, ideal for someone who enjoys solving structural problems and working across a broad range of engineered products.

What you will be doing:

  • Carrying out structural calculations for frames, beams, columns and fabricated assemblies
  • Working to Eurocodes, ASCE and international standards
  • Using structural analysis tools (Autodesk Robot or similar)
  • Validating designs from the CAD team
  • Producing technical reports and specs
  • Liaising with project engineers and overseas colleagues
  • Occasional UK and international site visits (expenses covered)

The Candidate

  • Experience in structural analysis for steel structures
  • Highly competent in carrying out mechanical structural first principal calculations such as bending moments, beam calculations, force, stress and strain calculations
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards
  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline
  • Open to occasional travel
