This is an opportunity to move beyond maintaining established processes and take ownership of the governance arrangements, standards frameworks and assurance structures that underpin safe, compliant and efficient railway operations. We're seeking an experienced engineering assurance professional who understands how technical standards, regulatory requirements and governance frameworks come together within a complex, highly regulated environment. If you've developed engineering governance arrangements, implemented assurance frameworks or translated industry requirements into practical business standards, this could be the opportunity you've been looking for. The Opportunity Our client is strengthening its governance and standards capability and is looking for an individual who can lead the development of governance arrangements that support engineering excellence whilst ensuring regulatory compliance. Working across engineering, operations and leadership teams, you'll take responsibility for designing and implementing governance frameworks that enable the organisation to meet the expectations of regulators, customers and industry stakeholders. This is not a compliance auditing role. Instead, you'll act as the architect of governance and assurance arrangements, creating the structures, processes and standards that enable compliance and engineering assurance across the business. What You'll Be Doing Designing and implementing engineering governance frameworks and assurance arrangements. Translating regulatory and industry requirements into practical organisational standards and processes. Developing governance structures that support engineering safety, asset integrity and operational performance. Establishing assurance processes that provide confidence in compliance with engineering and organisational requirements. Identifying gaps within existing governance arrangements and implementing improvements. Working closely with engineering leaders, technical authorities and senior stakeholders. Supporting engagement with regulators and industry bodies. Developing standards, policies and governance documentation. Presenting recommendations and governance proposals to executive and leadership teams. Driving continuous improvement across engineering governance and assurance activities. About You You'll have experience operating within a highly regulated rail environment and understand the importance of robust engineering governance and assurance. Most importantly, you'll be able to demonstrate experience of: Developing or implementing engineering assurance frameworks. Creating governance arrangements within regulated environments. Managing engineering standards and assurance processes. Working with organisations such as ORR, Network Rail, RSSB or rolling stock operators. Influencing senior technical and business stakeholders. Translating regulatory requirements into practical operational governance. Supporting organisational change through improved governance and assurance arrangements. Why Join?
