Overview
Electrical Project Manager - HV Electrical Infrastructure Swindon (On-site / Project Office) Permanent Opportunity
Why inherit a project when you can shape it from the ground up? Immediate start available to own a flagship renewables project, joining at the early design phase in March ahead of site installations commencing in August.
The Role and About You
You will be the Electrical Project Lead for this 50MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, commencing in March, as the Electrical Design commences. This is your opportunity to immerse yourself in the site, build a direct relationship with the customer, and familiarise yourself with the civil works before the main electrical installation phase begins. You will manage the full program of works and provide technical oversight, from design stage through construction, commissioning, approvals and handover. This will involve:
- developing the project schedule, budgets and resource plan
- review of electrical designs, protection schemes and connection documentation
- coordinating all delivery teams, internal and external, across engineering, construction, commercial activity
- providing project reports and updates to stakeholders, identifying and mitigating project risks
- achieving installation, testing, commissioning and approval milestones on time, within budget and with safety as the highest priority
You will naturally have previous experience delivering end to end HV projects, understanding the technical challenges and rigour required to move a project from preliminary designs to a fully energised asset with DNO approvals and acceptance. You will hold relevant qualifications in Project Management, alongside SMSTS / SSSTS, CSCS, and HV Authorisation. As this is a customer-facing role, your commercial awareness will be key in identifying early-stage technical opportunities for future growth.
The Company
You will be joining the UK division of a multinational EPC organisation with a 40-year track record of delivering complex energy infrastructure across the globe. Following the recent successful completion of a similar HV programme in the north of England, the business is now focused on Swindon as part of its continued UK expansion. While backed by global resources, the UK business operates with a flat management structure, offering you the autonomy to make decisions on-site without corporate bottlenecks. As Project Manager for this scheme, you will be the foundation of a growing team.
