The Role and About You

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a hands-on leadership role within a busy railway environment. As a Night Shift Train Cleaning Team Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating and supporting a team of Train Cleaners, ensuring all cleaning activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest presentation standards before trains return to passenger service.

You will allocate daily tasks, lead pre-shift briefings, monitor performance, carry out quality audits, and provide guidance and support throughout the shift. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will also undertake hands-on cleaning duties, including interior train cleaning, toilet sanitation, waste removal, and CET tank disposal when required.

We’re looking for someone with previous experience in a cleaning, transport, industrial, or facilities environment, along with experience leading or supervising a team. You should be an effective communicator with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to motivate others while maintaining high safety and operational standards.

The role is based on a night shift pattern of 20:00pm–06:00am, working a 4-on, 5-off rotation followed by 5-on, 4-off. As this is a safety-critical position, successful candidates must pass a railway-standard medical assessment and Drug & Alcohol test.
