Ganymede Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a leading Tier 1 Civil Engineering Contractor seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team on a major long-term water infrastructure framework. This is an excellent opportunity to work on one of the UK's largest infrastructure investment programmes, delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across both clean and wastewater. The Role

Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of works from procurement through to final account, ensuring projects are delivered successfully whilst maximising commercial performance. Working closely with operational teams, clients and the wider commercial function, you will manage contractual obligations, financial reporting, subcontractor accounts and change management across a range of infrastructure projects. You will also support the development of junior members of the commercial team, helping to build capability across the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take commercial ownership of allocated infrastructure projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Administer NEC contracts, ensuring contractual obligations and commercial risks are effectively managed.
  • Prepare and manage CVRs, cost reporting, cash flow forecasts and financial reporting.
  • Manage subcontract procurement, contract administration and final accounts.
  • Assess, negotiate and agree compensation events and variations.
  • Monitor project costs, identifying opportunities to improve commercial performance.
  • Produce accurate valuations, applications for payment and commercial forecasts.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
  • Mentor and support Assistant and Quantity Surveyors within the commercial team.
  • Support continuous improvement of commercial processes and procedures.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
  • Experience managing subcontract packages from procurement through to final account.
  • Strong financial reporting, forecasting and cost management experience.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
  • Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • RICS membership or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
