The Role & About You

As a Train Cleaner based at Heaton Depot, you'll be responsible for the interior cleaning of trains including full cleans, ensuring they are presented to a consistently high standard for customers. Your duties will include cleaning the interior of train carriages, including toilets, using specialist cleaning equipment such as cleaning solutions, mops, vacuum cleaners, and cloths. A key focus of the role is cleaning high-touch areas, with some trains requiring a quick turnaround to ensure they are ready for service.

You'll be working as part of a close-knit team consisting of 1 Train Presentation Team Leader and 6 Train Presentation Operatives, helping to maintain high presentation standards. The role will operate on a 4-on/4-off basis and will have working hours of 20:00 until 06:00.

You will play an important role in creating a clean, safe and welcoming environment for thousands of customers every day. This is a physically active, hands-on role involving manual labour in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment. You'll need to be dependable, work well as part of a team, follow procedures, and maintain high standards throughout your shift.

Successful applicants must be able to pass a railway standard medical examination and Drug & Alcohol screening prior to starting.
