Project Engineering Supervisor
North Yorkshire and Berkshire | Contract | Initial 8-12 months | Start: early December
Take the lead on varied engineering projects where your planning, site supervision and practical expertise will make an immediate impact.
We are recruiting for a well-established specialist engineering business that designs, builds and supports hygienic food and beverage processing systems, including Cleaning in Place (CIP) installations. With workload increasing significantly, the business needs a hands-on Project Engineering Supervisor to help deliver multiple live projects across the UK.
The opportunity
This contract offers far more than desk-based project management. You will combine project engineering, site supervision and practical delivery, supporting projects from preliminary site works through installation and commissioning. Along the way, you will coordinate internal labour and external trades while becoming a trusted day‑to‑day contact for customers.
What you will take ownership of
- Plan, schedule and coordinate site labour and subcontractors.
- Supervise preliminary works, installation activity and commissioning.
- Prepare site risk assessments, method statements and associated documentation.
- Manage permits and maintain regular day‑to‑day liaison with the client.
- Organise materials, logistics, access equipment hire and site resources.
- Forecast labour and material requirements to keep projects moving.
- Maintain high site standards, discipline and effective utilisation of labour.
- Provide clear progress updates to the Technical Director and Commercial Director.
- Support practical site activity whenever required.
Is this the right assignment for you?
- You have experience in project engineering, project management or site supervision within an engineering environment.
- You are confident coordinating multiple trades and adapting to changing site priorities.
- You take a practical, hands‑on approach rather than operating solely from a desk.
- You are comfortable preparing RAMS and maintaining safe, organised sites.
- You communicate clearly and build strong client relationships.
- You can be flexible over working hours and travel to meet project demands.
- Experience in food manufacturing, hygienic processing or CIP would be advantageous, but is not essential.
What the contract offers
The role will be split between customer sites, home working and occasional work at their Lincolnshire office, with regular site presence essential. The usual pattern is five days across seven, depending on project requirements. During busy installation and commissioning periods, longer days and weekend work may be required, with time off in lieu or overtime available. Travel and accommodation will be paid where required.
Why this opportunity stands out
You will join a close‑knit, experienced and good‑humoured engineering team within a business that has operated for more than 40 years. The work is specialised and varied, and a project pipeline extending for at least eight months offers the potential for the assignment to continue beyond the initial term.
