Are you a Project Manager looking for a long-term freelance opportunity within the water sector? If so, this could be the ideal role for you.
The Company
Our client is offering an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager to join them on a major water-industry programme in the Essex area. They are a well-established infrastructure contractor with a reputation for delivering complex, high-value civil engineering and process-driven projects across the UK.
The Role
As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, coordinating surveys, investigations, and early-stage design activities. You will act as the key liaison between the contractor, the design partner, and the client—chairing meetings, driving design clarity, managing reporting and governance, and ensuring that the developing scope aligns with delivery, constructability, and commercial objectives. This role also involves integrating additional workstreams into the wider programme and ensuring all early-stage staffing, cost, and practical considerations are fully captured.
About You
The ideal Project Manager will come from a civil engineering or process-engineering background, with proven experience in the water industry. You will be confident challenging assumptions, influencing design decisions, and representing the contractor’s interests in a collaborative but commercially sensitive setting.
