Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone to undertake a 12 month Fixed-Term Contract, to join our team on a hybrid basis (2 days per week) at our office in Newbury. This is a hands-on Management Accounting role so someone who is fully qualified would be ideal.

What will you be doing day-to-day?

  • Business partnering: Act as the primary finance contact for the Senior Leadership Team, providing insights and financial guidance. Develop a strong understanding of key product streams, growth areas, and their financial impact. Conduct ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support decision making.
  • Month-end reporting: Own the month-end close process for a Business Unit, including P&L and balance sheet preparation. Lead the monthly review with the Direct Finance Director to explain business unit result and key customer variances. Deliver revenue and cost assurance activities to ensure accurate reporting and increase Business Unit margin. Manage inventory reconciliations, ensuring ledger values align with monthly stock reports. Prepare month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations. Validate and Reconcile third-party supplier costs.
  • Other tasks: Calculate and validate monthly and quarterly Sales Commission payments. Review and approve Purchase Order requests, ensuring accuracy and cost alignment. Collaborate with the Credit Control team to review debtors and resolve outstanding queries. Support Customer Account Managers to resolve cost or billing queries. Liaise with auditors during year-end audits and half-year reviews, preparing necessary accounting papers.

What you’ll need:

  • Proven experience as a Management Accountant with a solid understanding of core financial processes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.
  • Strong time management and task prioritisation skills to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, both finance and non-finance.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Hands-on approach to day-to-day accounting activities.
  • Degree (or equivalent) Recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) – part qualified considered.
  • Experience of UK GAAP and IFRS.
