What will you be doing?
Join our dedicated customer on‑premise service desk team to monitor and respond to cybersecurity incidents for our strategic customer. This is high impact, high visibility work. Your focus will be on detecting, investigating, and resolving security incidents, utilising your technical skills and security knowledge to detect and analyse security threats.
As a Cyber Security Analyst you will report to the Service Desk Manager and support our Managed Detection and Response (MDR) technologies and security incident handling. In this fast‑paced environment, you will get exposure to a broad threat landscape and regularly collaborate with experienced security professionals to enhance our customers’ security posture from emerging cyber threats 24/7/365.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities:
- Analyze security alerts using SIEM tools, conduct initial triage, and assist in investigating breaches and vulnerabilities through a ticketing system.
- Record incidents and actions taken, and provide resolutions per company SOPs.
- Address security and technical queries, escalating issues as needed, often reporting to customer senior management.
- Work with team members to enhance security protocols and improve incident response, collaborating closely with internal network support teams and 24/7 SOC.
- Provide initial triage of alerts, escalating incidents to customers and senior analysts as appropriate.
- Assist in implementing security measures such as tuning and use case development.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, communicate security requirements to stakeholders, and ensure successful handovers to support teams.
- Proactively stay informed about emerging threats, technologies, and regulatory changes.
About You:
- An experienced Cyber Security Analyst in Tier 1 or 2 looking for your next role.
- A technical support professional with exposure to cyber security or enthusiasm for transitioning to a cyber role.
- A graduate in Cyber Security or Information Security looking to put theory into practice.
- A Computer Science, Information Technology or Network Engineering graduate with a demonstrable passion for cyber security and some IT work experience.
The kind of skills we would love to see:
- Understanding of security principles, good problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Experience or enthusiasm to learn about attack types, threat detection, incident response, risk management and security tools (SIEM, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Antivirus).
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP, VPNs, Firewalls, Common Ports, OSI Model.
- Basic knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures and their complexities.
- Understanding of corporate networks, attack vectors, threat actor TTPs, and threat intelligence models.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
It would be great if you had:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (desirable, not essential).
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or similar (desirable).
- Industry recognised formal certifications (JNCIA, CCNA, Security+, etc.).
- Security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.
