This role exists to provide both technical leadership and hands-on engineering expertise across systems within the Group Products space, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable while meeting business and customer needs.

Here are a few examples of what you could be involved with:

  • Reviewing code and driving high standards for quality, testing, and maintainability
  • Championing automated testing and CI/CD best practices
  • Facilitating Agile ceremonies and managing delivery using Jira in line with Group processes
  • Supporting product discovery, scoping, and accurate estimation of time and cost
  • Identifying technical debt and driving continuous improvement and innovation within the team

You don’t need experience in everything listed, but we’re especially keen to hear from people with some of the following skills:

  • Proven experience in team leadership, coaching, and mentoring engineers
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
  • Experience designing and building scalable systems and APIs
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions
  • Experience with modern technologies such as Node.js / TypeScript and React or Angular
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, version control, and Agile delivery practices
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS) and containerisation (e.g. Kubernetes)
  • Experience with Java and telecoms industry knowledge (desirable)
