Games Workshop has an exciting opportunity for a Design Manager to join our studio team, where you will lead a team of Miniatures Designers to make the world’s best fantasy miniatures. Miniatures are at the core of everything we do at Games Workshop and our talented Miniatures Designers have the thrilling role of shaping the character of our worlds.
As Miniatures Design Manager, you’ll understand what makes great Warhammer Miniatures, you will lead a team of Designers and champion a design led philosophy to bring our Warhammer Fantasy worlds to life. Innovative and forward thinking, you’ll understand the commercial impacts of great miniatures design as you manage projects from initial scoping through to completion. With a clear vision and thoroughly considered objectives, you’ll create clear and exciting briefs for each stage of the design process and uphold high standards as you critique and review each project diligently to ensure holistic quality, delivered on time and to budget.
At Games Workshop we are looking for people who will do their best to understand the needs of the company and to put those needs first when they are at work. The Warhammer World site is based just outside of Nottingham city centre and benefits from a nearby tram stop and free onsite car parking. In return for your hard work, you will receive 33 days holiday per year (including public holidays), matching contributory pension scheme up to 7.5%, profit share bonus (subject to GW meeting profit targets) and option to join our Share Save scheme. Oh and let’s not forget, a staff discount of between 25% and 50% on our products!
This role is based full time onsite at our UK headquarters in Nottingham.

Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Miniatures Designers and mentor a high performing design team and project teams.
- Understand what makes great Warhammer Miniatures and champion a design led philosophy to bring Warhammer Fantasy worlds to life.
- Manage projects from initial scoping through to completion with clear briefs for each stage of the design process; critique and review projects to ensure holistic quality, on time and to budget.
- Recruit future aspiring miniatures designers and develop the team through productive individual coaching sessions, setting clear goals and providing comprehensive design critique.
- Collaborate closely with various design teams to ensure all miniatures projects are managed and executed effectively at all stages; work with the Concept team to generate briefs and manage the proof of concept process to deliver prototypes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience leading design teams and managing multiple projects within a creative studio environment.
- Strong collaboration skills and a proactive, forward-thinking approach.
- Ability to create clear objectives and high-quality briefs for design processes.
- Ability to recruit, coach and develop designers and maintain high performance standards.
- Passion for people, observant, and able to drive design quality from concept to delivery.
