As a Technical Artist you will have the ability to work with clients, artists and programmers to create innovative and inspiring gaming visuals that set new benchmarks. Third Kind Games is one of the largest independently owned game development studios in the UK, based in Royal Leamington Spa. We also have remote studios in Poland and Spain. Our three studios have been built on the same original spirit and values since our beginning. Founded in 2016 by nine leaders in the industry, with extensive experience in the development of critically acclaimed titles such as Guitar Hero Live and DiRT, we’ve been growing ever since. Today we work with some of the biggest names in the games industry such as Blizzard, Amazon, Microsoft and Mythical Games. Alongside several new high-profile, unannounced projects, our team is also working on our own IP, so TKG is an incredibly exciting place to be right now. We are also setting new benchmarks for creativity in the games industry, driving technical expertise in programming alongside creative innovation.

Role Overview
- Working with our team of programmers and artists to support the implementation of fresh and innovative visuals for our games.
- Monitoring and managing the Art pipelines to ensure budgets and requirements are met.
- Helping to bridge Art and Code departments with tools and workflows.
- Leading the way with new technologies and methods to advance Technical Art.
- Strong artistic skills combined with a problem solving attitude.
- Mentoring and assisting your colleagues to support their personal development.
What we’re looking for from a Third Kinder
- Share knowledge and recommend best practices across the team and business.
- Actively participate in the constant improvement of work methods and processes.
- Have the motivation and passion to keep up to date with industry developments and bring efficiencies and increased quality, whilst growing your skill set.
- Drive and own the documentation to ensure best practices in art creation and work with the team to ensure standards and processes are reviewed to drive efficiencies.
- Be a team player, but also work autonomously, whilst knowing when to ask for advice from your colleagues.
- Be naturally inquisitive and keep up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends and developments.
- Be highly adaptable and a great problem solver.
- Manage Art pipelines and workflows.
- Create scripts and tools in Maya or other to help artists (Python, Mel etc.)
- Have experience with shader creation, optimisation and assist with game optimisation and framerates.
- Experience in Unreal or other Engines.
- Have knowledge in using Particle Effects editors to create PFX and Rigging.
Skills you need
- 2 years + experience as a Technical Artist working on video gaming titles.
- 3 years + experience in 3D packages for example; Autodesk Softimage, 3D Studio Max, Maya, IXSI, LightWave and ZBrush.
- Proficient in 2D authoring software for example; Quixel, Ndo, Substance Design, Substance Painter and Photoshop.
- Passionate about making games visuals and supporting our approach to emerging technologies and industry developments.
- Ambitious and motivated.
Skills it would be great to have
- Experience with Unity Engine.
