Full time 2 years fixed term contract in Eggleston, Teesdale, County Durham.

The GWCT is seeking a Research Assistant to join the upland research team to support ongoing field research projects in the north of England, based out of the Trust’s office in Eggleston, near Barnard Castle.

Responsibilities:

  • Support field data collection, including data entry and sample processing for projects on red grouse, black grouse and upland vegetation management.
  • Assist in fieldwork under arduous conditions and maintain professional and reliable conduct.
  • Work collaboratively within a small research team and contribute to data quality and sample handling.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate in Ecology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience, with a focus on wildlife research.
  • Ability to work independently once trained and manage fieldwork in challenging environments.
  • Experience of conducting field research in arduous conditions and within a small team.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and reliability.
