This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced health and safety manager to play a key role providing specialist support and advice to ensure GamCare staff, volunteers and service users remain safe.

About GamCare

Founded in 1997, GamCare is one of the leading providers of information, advice and support for anyone affected by gambling harms. We operate the National Gambling Helpline, provide treatment for anyone who is harmed by gambling, create awareness about safer gambling and treatment, and encourage an effective approach to safer gambling within the gambling industry.

The role

This role is critical to GamCare’s future as we review and enhance our approach to health and safety across the charity and implement sustainable health and safety management programs.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert advice on occupational health and safety
  • Representing GamCare in discussions with enforcing authorities such as the Health and Safety Executive and Environmental Health Officers
  • Advising the HR Team on occupational health related matters
  • Developing and reviewing health, safety, and environment policies, procedures, and risk assessment frameworks to ensure compliance with current legislation
  • Conducting due diligence checks on health and safety arrangements, risk assessments, and performance of third parties
  • Planning and undertaking annual reviews of all health and safety risk assessments
  • Investigating all health and safety related incidents and accidents
  • Developing and delivering bespoke health and safety learning and development programs for managers and employees

We can be flexible with your hours of work up to a maximum of 28 hours per week (minimum 21 hours per week).

About You

You will have a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma) with plenty of experience in developing and delivering health and safety work plans to improve safety performance.

You will also be well versed in providing environmental and sustainability advice and guidance across all levels of an organisation.

You will also understand how to apply relevant statutory requirements e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act etc. and be able to provide occupational related health and safety advice and guidance to managers and colleagues in HR.
