A leading UK law firm with a nationally recognised contentious insolvency practice is seeking an experienced Senior Insolvency Litigator to join its established team. This is a strategic hire aimed at strengthening a high‑performing group that consistently ranks among the most active in the country for insolvency‑related claims. The firm operates at meaningful scale, over 500 people and a growing regional footprint, yet retains the agility, culture, and cohesion of a mid‑sized practice. Its contentious insolvency team is Legal 500‑ranked, regularly recognised in industry awards, and trusted by national insolvency practitioners, blue‑chip corporates, local authorities, and commercial organisations.
The Opportunity - remote working fully
You will join a team of eight specialists handling a sophisticated caseload of contentious insolvency matters. The work is predominantly litigation arising from formal insolvency appointments, with a strong emphasis on director‑focused claims and actions brought by insolvency practitioners. This role is designed for a technically robust, stable, and commercially minded litigator. Someone who has built depth over time, is comfortable operating autonomously, and is now seeking a platform with high‑quality work, flexibility, and long‑term progression.
What You’ll Lead On
- Running complex director and office‑holder claims, including misfeasance, breach of duty, antecedent transactions, and recovery actions.
- Managing corporate insolvency litigation, such as winding‑up petitions, validation orders, and claims arising from post‑appointment investigations.
- Handling personal insolvency disputes, including possession and sale applications, annulments, and statutory demand challenges.
- Providing litigation support to the firm’s in‑house insolvency practitioners and collaborating with other departments on cross‑disciplinary matters.
- Advising on select non‑contentious issues, including administration applications, phoenix company guidance, and pre‑pack considerations.
- Contributing to business development initiatives and supporting the development of junior colleagues where appropriate.
The team’s work is regularly featured in annual market reports tracking issued insolvency claims, where it consistently ranks in the top 10 nationally for volume and complexity.
What You Bring
- 8–10+ years PQE in contentious insolvency or commercial litigation with a strong insolvency component.
- A proven, stable career trajectory, you’ve built depth, not hopped.
- Strong technical grounding in director claims and IP‑led litigation.
- Excellent drafting, communication, and analytical skills.
- The confidence to manage complex matters with minimal supervision while contributing to a collaborative team culture.
- A commercial, solutions‑focused mindset and the ability to build trusted relationships with insolvency practitioners.
Why This Role Appeals to Senior Talent
- A high‑performing, Legal 500‑ranked team with a national reputation.
- A firm recognised in regional and national awards, including Northern Powerhouse nominations and industry hotlists.
- A supportive, modern working culture with full remote flexibility.
- A steady, high‑quality pipeline of contentious insolvency work from long‑standing IP relationships.
Salary of £70,000–£85,000, aligned to experience and technical depth. This is a compelling opportunity for a seasoned insolvency litigator who wants to step into a senior, trusted role within a team that values technical excellence, stability, and long‑term contribution.
