Gambit Insurance Solutions Charity Insurance offers a competitive salary with uncapped earning potential based on new business performance. We are a Leicester-based specialist charity insurance broker, working with charities, community organisations, and purpose-led groups across the UK. We advise, educate, and add value beyond the buying of insurance. We are entering our next phase of growth and are looking for a commercially driven insurance professional who enjoys winning business. This is a revenue-focused role.
The majority of your time will be spent developing new relationships, building a strong prospect pipeline, and converting opportunities into long-term clients. This is a new business-led role, with full ownership of both sales and technical delivery. You must also be technically capable, able to obtain terms, use Acturis, negotiate with insurers, and present structured insurance solutions confidently. This is an opportunity for someone ambitious to play a visible role in the growth of a specialist broker.
The role: This is a new business-focused role. You will own a pipeline, develop relationships with charities and community organisations, and maintain relationships with the clients you have won. You will:
- Proactively identify and approach prospective charities.
- Build and manage your own pipeline daily.
- Work the CRM consistently, with discipline and proactively.
- Attend relevant sector events and networking opportunities.
- Arrange and conduct meetings (virtual and in person).
- Lead the sales process from initial contact through to binding cover.
You will lead your own placements for straightforward risks, with account broker support on more complex cases with direct involvement from management to help secure terms and get deals over the line. This is a hands-on, accountable role with income targets attached, and you will work closely with the Head of Commercial and Head of Marketing, giving you all the tools you need to be able to proactively prospect.
What you’ll actually be doing:
- Proactively identify and approach charities and not-for-profit organisations.
- Build and manage a consistent pipeline, with regular outbound activity and a focus on converting qualified opportunities into long-term clients.
- Lead structured fact-finds with CEOs, finance leads, and trustees.
- Obtain and negotiate insurer terms; present solutions confidently.
- Attend sector events and network to build your profile in the industry.
- Work with our marketing team to put Gambit in front of the right audiences.
Can you show us you’ve done this? We’re not just asking about job titles. We’re looking for people who are confident navigating in these scenarios:
- Pipeline discipline: You’ve taken ownership of a cold or underdeveloped territory and built a pipeline from scratch, not inherited a book of renewals. What did your prospecting activity actually look like week to week?
- Technical confidence: You’ve gone to market, negotiated with underwriters, and presented a structured solution to a client who didn’t understand insurance. Walk us through a deal you’re proud of.
- Sector or niche experience: You’ve worked with charities, not-for-profits, SMEs, or other specialist sectors, and you understand the difference between selling to a commercial buyer and speaking to a trustee or CEO. What does that difference look like to you?
- Resilience under target: You’ve had a slow month, quarter, or a deal fall over late in the process. What does your recovery look like? What did you learn and change?
What we’re looking for:
- Proven track record in commercial insurance sales or business development.
- Experience using Acturis or a similar broking platform.
- Confident phone-based selling and structured follow-up habits.
- Ability to explain cover clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable working to income targets and being held to them.
- Available to work from our Leicester office a minimum of three days per week.
Nice to have: Cert CII / Dip CII, charity sector experience, SME product knowledge.
What we offer:
- Competitive salary and uncapped bonuses.
- Flexibility in WFH with face-to-face meetings.
- Minimum of 27 days holiday + bank holiday, with additional opportunities for paid time off (pro rata from Jan-Dec).
- Annual team events and team building days.
- Pension Scheme – post probation, eligibility to join the group pension scheme, totalling 9% - with an employer pension contribution of 6% and employee contribution on a salary sacrifice basis provided you contribute at least 3%.
- Access to the "Employee Perks" programme, offering discounts and rewards.
- Multiple opportunities for Bonuses.
