Overview

Purchaser for an aviation MRO in Bournemouth, 12‑month fixed‑term contract with the possibility of leading to a permanent position. Competitive salary, excellent benefits, a 5‑5‑4 shift pattern and extensive professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure cost‑effective procurement of aircraft spares and services to meet MRO needs.
  • Maintain 3rd‑party core inventory, ensuring timely return to retailers as mandated.
  • Support maintenance checks at remote bases.
  • Ensure accuracy of all orders, including cost, purchasing method and linked requisitions.
  • Expedite procurement activities, recording progress in MRO software.
  • Coordinate forward planning with engineering, planning and commercial teams.
  • Maintain timely updates to the MRO on part purchases and delivery schedules.
  • Inform warehouse staff and import/export coordinators of inbound priorities.
  • Manage parts sales and exchange enquiries, building a robust rotatable pool and processing slow‑moving inventory.
  • Provide daily reporting to Procurement shift lead and engineering as required.
  • Support project reporting and governance against performance KPIs.
  • Assist the wider business as reasonably requested.
  • Aid the department where it is most needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working within purchasing in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Understanding of manufacturing practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers.
  • Highly self‑motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Able to prioritise and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
  • Ability to work in a team‑oriented, collaborative and proactive environment.
