The predicted salary is between 45000 - 55000 £ per year.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Gama Aviation is currently recruiting for an MRO Tooling Manager to work within a dynamic, exciting and progressive team at our modern Bournemouth base facility. This role will also include occasional travel as you will be overseeing tooling and ground support equipment for multiple sites across the UK.

The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for the management calibration, tool maintenance and control of all tooling/GSE throughout the MRO network, in accordance with mandated CAA, EASA and Health Safety regulations. In addition, you will be responsible for Tool deliveries to the MRO engineering departments ensuring compliance and record keeping. You will have a great deal of responsibility with endless opportunity for impact and freedom for initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate all activities related to tool management, tool procurement, calibration, control and distribution of tools & GSE related to all the MRO Tool stores and provides daily status reports to management as necessary.
  • Providing leadership in expanding the capabilities of the Tool stores, while working closely with all the site managers on the needs of the engineering teams.
  • Ensuring the productivity of the facilities under control are forecasted, reviewed and managed in an efficient manner.
  • Applying 6S and Lean Initiatives to ensure shops are meeting production requirements, work areas remain clean, uncluttered, and safe.
  • Ensures all work performed by assigned team complies with all required documentation including Component Maintenance Manuals, drawings, blueprints, and all other applicable required documentation.
  • Take sole responsibility for the control of all tooling in accordance with CAA & EASA regulations.
  • Support process improvement through lean initiatives and other tools to enhance efficiency, safety, and production.
  • Investigate, plan and implement new ventures in tooling & GSE to streamline processes.
  • Work closely with Stores Team to plan the shipments in/out of all tooling and GSE.
  • Audit Tooling in accordance with policy and ensure compliance.
  • Weekly and Monthly reporting to the BMM (Status of all Tooling Calibration Records, Internal Service Records, Broken / damaged tooling).
  • Review tool transfer and calibration records for non-supported external facilities.
  • Support to the wider business as reasonably requested.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:

Essential:

  • An understanding of aviation tooling and commercial purchasing.
  • Proactive at issue identification and resolution.
  • Ability to analyse data in Excel and other related platforms to promote future purchases based on usage.
  • Good understanding of the concepts and requirements of SMS, Quality Assurance and Audits.
  • Must be proficient in use of commercial and proprietary software packages and apps.
  • Ability to lead and line manage a team of skilled personnel and support them fully as required to achieve the objectives.
  • Ability to react to demand changes and manage the team accordingly.

Advantageous:

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and methodologies (e.g., 6S, Kaizen) is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, solve problems, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
