The Role: Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Assistant Management Accountant will play a key role in the timely delivery of monthly management accounts. Gama Aviation Engineering Ltd have in excess of thirty separate P&L’s produced by a small Finance team and are part of a large group of companies. This role will include the processing of daily uploads of data from the ERP system, raising AR invoices including the processing of warranty claims and fuel sales, and maintaining the fixed asset register. The role also includes some balance sheet reconciliation and maintaining up to date procedures.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of accurate, and timely financial and management reports, to include, but not limited to the monthly management accounts.
  • Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations that may include balances that come from complex stock movements.
  • Continuous improvement and effective controls requiring build of better data and Excel files.
  • Support for the annual Budget and periodic Forecast process.
  • Ensure all transactions are processed in accordance with the correct accounting treatment and standards, this includes gaining good understanding of the MRO system and how that interacts with stock and GRNI.
  • Annual audit response to queries and confident communication with Auditors.
  • Back up for autopost data migration.
  • Maintaining up to date procedures.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Qualified or Part Qualified AAT, ACA, CIMA, ACCA.
  • At least two years experience, it is likely the person will be working in a finance role and have experience of improving systems and processes.
  • Technically strong, with a high level of systems and Excel knowledge essential, the ability to build reports using Power Query and working with Power BI a distinct advantage.
  • Analytically competent and naturally inclined to challenge processes and procedures to find practical alternatives.
  • Proactive and conscientious will enjoy always being very busy and show strong communication skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of special mission projects.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to a complex operating environment and confident in working with department heads, senior management and financial staff.
