The Role:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Assistant Management Accountant will play a key role in the timely delivery of monthly management accounts. The role includes processing daily uploads from the ERP system, raising AR invoices, processing warranty claims and fuel sales, maintaining the fixed asset register, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and maintaining up‑to‑date procedures. It also involves supporting the annual budget and forecasting process.
Main Responsibilities:
- Preparation of accurate and timely financial and management reports, including monthly management accounts.
- Monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations that may include balances from complex stock movements.
- Continuous improvement and effective controls, building better data and Excel files.
- Support for the annual budget and periodic forecast process.
- Ensure all transactions are processed in accordance with correct accounting treatment and standards, including understanding the MRO system and its interaction with stock and GRNI.
- Annual audit response to queries and confident communication with auditors.
- Backup for autopost data migration.
- Maintain up‑to‑date procedures.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:
- Qualified or Part Qualified AAT, ACA, CIMA, ACCA.
- At least two years’ experience, preferably in a finance role with experience improving systems and processes.
- Technically strong, with a high level of systems and Excel knowledge essential; ability to build reports using Power Query and working with Power BI is a distinct advantage.
- Analytically competent and naturally inclined to challenge processes and procedures to find practical alternatives.
- Proactive, conscientious, with strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a busy environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of special mission projects.
- Ability to quickly adapt to a complex operating environment and confidence in working with department heads, senior management and financial staff.
