Join a respected groundworks contractor delivering major schemes across the South West and into South Wales. Based in Gloucester, you’ll set and uphold best-in-class safety standards across live sites stretching from Gloucester to Somerset and Swindon to Cardiff. Over the next 14 months you’ll shadow our current Head of Health & Safety, preparing to succeed them in leading the department.
The Role
- Oversee health, safety, and environmental management on all groundworks projects
- Collaborate with main contractors and project teams to ensure full compliance with HSE legislation
- Conduct site audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- Lead the development and implementation of risk assessments, method statements, and site safety plans
- Promote a proactive safety culture by delivering training, guidance, and support to site teams
- Report on safety performance and continuous improvement initiatives to senior management / directors
- Shadow the current Head of Health & Safety over a 14-month period, with a clear path to succeeding them
About You
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Manager in groundworks, civil engineering, or construction
- In-depth knowledge of CDM regulations, HSE standards, and industry best practices
- Comfortable liaising with main contractors and client stakeholders
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification (or equivalent) required
- Proactive, approachable, and confident influencing teams on site
