Job Title: Transport Manager, HGV Operations (On-site role)
Location: Dumbarton, with regular travel to company and customer sites
Work pattern: Monday-Friday. On-call rota in operation.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Transport Manager to oversee and manage our HGV Operations. Forming part of our management team, the role is central to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our transport services, while upholding our commitment to safety, compliance, and outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational management:
- Plan, coordinate and oversee daily transport operations to ensure timely delivery of goods
- Manage fleet schedules, ensuring optimal efficiency and minimal downtime using our own fleet and sub-contractors where required
Customer Relationship Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing enquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring their needs are met.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers on a day-to-day basis. Provide advice and guidance regarding jobs to promote repeat business and customer satisfaction.
- Regularly communicate with clients to provide updates on delivery schedules and address feedback constructively.
Compliance and Legal Obligations:
- Ensure full compliance with UK transport laws and regulations, including tachograph and driver hour regulations, road safety standards, and vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Ensure drivers are fully compliant with regards to driver hours, health and safety, vehicle road worthiness, CPC training and tachograph management
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and motivate a team of drivers and logistics staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability
- Deal with any disciplinary issues that may arise
Requirements:
- A valid Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is essential
- Proven experience in transport management, preferably within the haulage industry
- A strong understanding of transport regulations and compliance (e.g. Driver CPC, tachograph rules)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in transport management software and tools
- H&S experience and/or qualifications an advantage
- Commercially astute with a good understanding of the haulage industry
